It's still more than a month-and-a-half away, but as someone who loves Halloween and having fun dressing up, I feel it's never too early to start planning costumes for you and your family.
Tracking down all of the right pieces to create the right look for whatever you're dressing up as can take a bit of time, and when you're trying to find costumes for your younger twins, it can be hard to track down the sizes you need.
For our twins' first Halloween, we chose what they were going to dress up as in July, and I started sourcing their costume elements in the summer because I knew it would take time to find everything, get it shipped in time, and make sure it all fit.

They went as Chip and Dale, Rescue Rangers, and we dressed up as the other members of their team, Gadget and Monterey Jack. Our costumes also required some crafting, which took extra time among the hectic schedule that comes with having newborn twins.
Last year, our twins dressed up as Tintin and Captain Haddock, and, in a twist of irony, Mom and Dad dressed up as Thompson & Thomson (the bumbling, identical non-twin detectives from the show).

Then, after trick or treating, we got set up by the front door to greet the other kiddos and marvel at their costumes while enjoying candy or chips and watching some of our favorite classic Halloween shows and movies in the background.
Finding the perfect costumes

Sometimes, you know exactly what you want to dress up as. Other times, you need some inspiration.
If you're looking for some fun ideas for costumes that play off the idea of things that go together, like your twins or higher-order multiples, you've come to the right place.
Here's a list of 50 creative Halloween costume ideas your twins and higher-order multiples will love.
For the BFFs
1. Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce
It's probably going to be a popular costume this year, and everyone will know exactly who your twins are dressed up as: your English teacher and your Gym teacher (IYKYK). Just (don't forget the microphone).
2. Daniel Tiger and Mr. Rogers
It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood for this costume mash-up.
3. Spongebob Squarepants and Patrick
Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? Your twins on Halloween night! Welcome to Bikini Bottom.
4. George Costanza and Jerry Seinfeld
What's the deal with these costumes? They're fun, that's what.
You can add in Elaine Benes or Cosmo Kramer, if you have higher-order multiples.
5. Slinky Dog
A fun (and oh-so-cute) twist for your dynamic duo to go as one fun-loving character.
6. Woody and Buzz Lightyear
This one can be incorporated into the Slinky Dog costume, if you have triplets or quadruplets or two separate sets of twins who've all got a friend in each other.
For the book lovers
They may not be twins, but they're brothers and they make a great team.
8. Bert and Nan, the Bobbsey Twins
Your twins can go as Bert and Nan, and you can add in Freddie and Flossie, if you're rockin' multiple sets of twins.
What's more fun than bright blue wigs on your little ones as part of their costume? If you've got triplets, you can work in the Cat in the Hat.
10. Curious George and the Man with the Yellow Hat
Your twins are probably often monkeyin' around…why not incorporate that into their costume? One can go as George and their counterpart can go as his oh-so-tall pal, whom, did you know, is named Theodore Shacklefield?
11. Where's Waldo and Where's Wendy?
If you have higher-order multiples, you can add in Wizard Whitebeard and Woof the Dog.
For the cartoon lovers
12. Peter Pan and Tinkerbell
Your twins will look like they flew right out of Neverland, except they'll actually grow up (at what feels like lightning speed!).
Your dynamic duo are probably already chasing each other around like this famous cat-and-mouse pair. Now, they'll look the part.
We did this costume when our twins were two, and they had a blast with it…and so did we!
If you've got triplets, this is a classic trio to dress up as, and teaching them to say, "Quack-a-rooney" for the big night could be a fun challenge.
For the foodies
16. Bacon and Eggs
A classic combination that's bound to go over easy with the crowds.
17. Cookies and Milk
Your twins probably love snacking on cookies and milk, so will probably be excited to dress up as this classic combo for Halloween.
Like any siblings in a set of twins, these two complement each other nicely.
Is there a pairing more classic than PB and J? Tough to say. Will this costume hit the spot this Halloween? Absolutely.
This concept is the perfect way to spice up your twins' costumes this year.
For the movie lovers
21. Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy
It's actually pretty easy being green when your costume looks this awesome. And with Miss Piggy hi-yahing her way onto the scene in that fabulous gown, this costume combo will have you feeling the Rainbow Connection.
22. Frankenstein's Monster and the Bride of Frankenstein
This one involves some major hairstyling or wig-working, but it will be highly-appreciated by all who get to witness the end product.
23. Glinda the Good Witch and Elphaba the Wicked Witch
While Glinda and Elphaba aren't technically sisters, they are a good pairing of whimsical witches and will certainly be recognizable with their iconic attire.
24. Lions, and Tigers, and Bears
You'll get a lot of, "Oh my!"s if you go with this costume for your triplets, and isn't that kind of the whole point?
25. Marty McFly and Doc Brown circa 1985
Doc Brown and Marty McFly: One of the greatest pairs of all time (pun very much intended). If you have triplets or quadruplets, or a double set of twins, you can add in 2015 Marty and Doc and it'll be…heavy.
For the music lovers
26. Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn
If your little ones have a love for all things country music, this classic duo could be right up their alley. And what's cuter than two little cowboys in coordinating hats and boots?
27. Freddie Mercury and Freddy Krueger
While only Mercury is the musical one, people will get a kick out of your fraternal Freddys, and both of these costumes are sure to be recognized and appreciated by everyone you run into.
They got you, babe.
Your super-cuties will become superheroes in the blink of an eye.
30. Chip and Dale, Rescue Rangers
This was such a fun costume for our twins' first Halloween. Chip and Dale are a classic pair and having them go as the Rescue Rangers version of these cute, little chipmunks, was a ton of fun to pull together.
31. Batman and Bruce Wayne
Your identicals could pull off this fun costume idea where one goes as Batman and the other goes as his true identity. The Bat-Signal could make a nice accessory.
We got these costumes for our toddlers recently, and our twins love wearing them around the neighborhood on random weeknights. It's super easy to put on and comfortable for them to wear. Although the picture on the packaging shows a sword, the costume does not come with one, which we were fine with, since we figured it cut down on them hitting each other over the head constantly… If you know someone who has a farm, your twins could venture out to pick their trusty steeds.

For those who love little critters
33. A magician and their rabbit
Presto, change-o, let's see what your toddler magician can pull out of their sleeve...though, they probably won't be able to pull their sibling-rabbit out of their hat. But perhaps a comically large hat could play into the costume, somehow.
34. A Mouse and its Cheese
Your twins may not be as quiet as a mouse, especially when they're hungry...or sleepy...or feeling pretty much anything. But they'll sure look cute when they're hugging in their costumes and transform into a mouse clutching a ginormous piece of cheese.
35. Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse
Add in Goofy and Donald Duck, if you have higher-order multiples or two sets of twins.
For those who like to power up
36. Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong
Another classic pairing who would be sure to get recognized, and using bananas as props means you've got snacks for while you're trick or treating.
These fraternal twin brothers are well-known around the world. Add Princess Peach and Toad, if you have higher-order multiples.
A legendary dress-up idea that's sure to make your twins' first Halloween (Hy)rule.
When it's key for your stroller to be part of the costume
39. Harry and Lloyd from Dumb & Dumber with the Mutts Cutts Shaggy Dog Van around the Stroller
These two pals are instantly recognizable in their brightly colored suits, but it'll be your stroller that's decked out like the shaggy dog Mutt Cutts van that will be first to catch everyone's eye.
40. King Kong and Ann Darrow with the Empire State Building around the Stroller
King Kong can't be mistaken, especially when accompanied by Fay Wray's classic damsel in distress. With the right planning, you can transform your stroller into the Empire State Building.
41. Sandra Dee and Danny Zuko with Greased Lightning around the Stroller
Sandy's and Danny's outfits are easy enough to procure and you probably have most of the elements in your twins' closets already, so the real elbow-grease will go into transforming your stroller or wagon into Kenickie's Greased Lighting 1948 Ford De Luxe convertible.
42. Stuffed Animals in the Claw Machine
A fun way to amp up the cuteness on Halloween is by dressing up your little ones as sweet, little stuffed animals and turning their stroller into a classic claw machine to keep them contained.
When you want easy costumes for the tiniest trick or treaters
These sleepers are a win-win situation because they're easy and recognizable as baseball players and then, when you get home, your twins are already in their jammies and ready to rock right into the bedtime routine. And with this costume, you can go one step further and tell people they play for the Minnesota Twins.
44. Skele-twins
What's spookier than one skeleton? Skele-twins. OoooOOOooOOh! These shirts are simple, but so darn cute for your twins' first Halloween.
These onesies hit the holiday spirit while being easy to throw on to your little ones right before you head out the door to go trick or treating.
When your twins are still in utero
46. Forrest Bump
This is an easy one, if you go as Forrest from his time on the shrimp boat. All you need is a white tank top (which will definitely show off your Gump Bump), some green pants, and a hat. Oh, and to be really good at waving fast to people you pretend are Lieutenant Dan.
47. The Sandlot Bump
Another easy costume for a tired, pregnant mama is this shirt that boasts the classic line from The Sandlot movie. If you have the extra props on-hand already, you can throw on a baseball cap, and carry around your baseball bat or glove to finish off the look.
48. Mama Cat Snoozing on a Bump
This shirt with a cat snoozing on top of your bump is a cute and simple way to celebrate the day and show off your growing duo.
49. A Double Witch Hat Shirt to Announce Your Twins
When your Halloween has you chanting, "Double double, we're in trouble," this magical costume for a mama expecting twins will put a spell on everyone who gazes upon it.
50. A Spooky & Sweet Skeleton Couples Costume
This costume for a couple who's expecting twins might give people a scare before they realize how sweet your news is.
May you find the perfect costumes

There are only so many Halloweens before your twins will tell you what they want to be...and, then, they might change their minds seven times before they finally land on an idea.
If you're stuck for creative ideas, hopefully, this list of costumes that go together will give you some inspiration as you narrow down your outfits for dressing up this year.
Whatever you land on, be sure to have fun as you go door-to-door and make Monster-Mash-able memories.
