Bath time equals fun time, at least for the toddlers who are splashing around and playing with their toys.

What isn't so fun are the brightly colored streaks that can be left behind from the bath toys hitting the sides or the bottom of the tub while your toddlers play and fling their toys all over the place.

These transferred paint streaks don't just wipe away with water. Fortunately, there's a quick and easy way to remove these vibrant marks from your tub, and the good news is you probably already have the necessary things on-hand in your home.

Don't grab the wrong cleaning agent

While you may be tempted to reach for a magic eraser to quickly swipe and remove those pesky paint streaks, don't do it.

Magic erasers are able to remove soap scum, grime, and even rust from bathtubs—all great things!—but they can also destroy the finish on some bathtubs because the pads are abrasive.

This means that while magic erasers can remove the scuffs you can't stand, they can also dull high-gloss finishes or create very fine (but very noticeable) scratches over time.

And since you're not likely to be swapping out your tub very often, it's best to find another way to remove the marks left behind by your children's bath toys.

Bring on the baking soda

Whether you've got an acrylic, fiberglass, or porcelain tub, your safest bet to clean things quickly and effectively is to grab a box of baking soda.

Sodium bicarbonate (AKA baking soda) is a non-abrasive cleaning agent that can remove stains and scuffs from many surfaces, including your bathtub (even if it has a textured floor), with little effort and without damaging the finish.

Just grab your baking soda and a baby wipe or other soft cloth, sprinkle a bit of the powder onto it, and gently scrub the stained area.

I personally like the baby wipe option because it's already damp, so you don't even need to bother adding water before cleaning the area clean. If you opt for a different cloth instead of a wipe, just add a couple of drops of water on top of the baking soda before wiping the area.

It really is quite remarkable how quickly you can remove unwanted marks with the right tool for the job.

Different areas of the bathtub in our ensuite were covered with rainboweqsue trails where the color had transferred from a toy to the tub.

Drag the slider on the photos above and below to compare the scuffed surfaces to the cleaned ones.

And with very minimal effort, they were erased in mere moments, leaving a bright, gleaming surface behind.

In just a few seconds, you'll be able to say sayonara to the scuffs on the side of your tub and hello to a brand-new looking bathtub.
