Feeding newborn twins is a lot of work.
If you choose to breastfeed, it takes a lot of calories to get your twins the calories they need, and no matter how hard you might try to exclusively breastfeed or pump for your newborns, there are some cases where you need to supplement your twins' feeds with formula (Iike we did with our premature twins) to ensure your babies are gaining the weight they need not only to grow but to thrive.
And now, there's a newly launched, science-backed infant formula available to parents that's been carefully crafted to share 10 key ingredients with breastmilk.
Designed to be closer to breastmilk
For more than 30 years, Munchkin Inc. has produced innovative products for children and their caregivers. An industry leader in the design and development of innovative infant and toddler products, Munchkin has now launched its own infant formula.
Featuring a patented blend of proteins, fats, and carbohydrates designed to be closer to breastmilk, Munchkin's Infant Formula offers a thoughtful solution to families feeding by breast, by bottle, or both.
The formula includes essential prebiotics, proteins, and nutrients that support immune development, brain growth, and digestive health.
The formula includes essential prebiotics, proteins, and nutrients that support immune development, brain growth, and digestive health. Informed by over 10 years of research and development, the formula reflects Munchkin's commitment to science-led innovation.
Their formula, which is available in two offerings (Original and Made with Organic Milk), is available online (with a subscription option, if you like), and will launch exclusively in Target stores nationwide in mid-March.
"Expanding into infant formula is a meaningful milestone for our company and a natural extension of our mission to support parents through every stage of early life," says Steven Dunn, founder and CEO of WHY Brands Inc., the parent company of the baby lifestyle brand Munchkin.
"Munchkin Infant Formula represents years of listening to families and working with doctors and scientists to create something truly different," adds Dunn, "including the only cow's milk formula in the US with beta-palmitate, a type of fat found in mature breastmilk, to support digestion and nutrient absorption."
Fed is best
The launch of formula marks a major milestone for Munchkin, completing its 360° Infant Feeding Ecosystem, Full Circle Feeding, uniquely designed to support families however they choose to feed.
Munchkin's Full Circle Feeding includes the Flow Nipple Shield+, lactation support products, and Bond Bottles, providing parents with high-quality, reliable options that help them feed with confidence and ease during a vital stage of parenthood.
For quality assurance, Munchkin Infant Formula is manufactured in a state-of-the-art infant formula facility in Canada. The facility was built in 2019 and was designed from the ground up to exceed today's nutritional standards, from hygienic zoning, to air handling, to automation.
Audited by both the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, the facility adheres to the highest safety and quality standards in both countries.
Munchkin's formula undergoes rigorous testing to ensure it's free from pathogens and heavy metals, including specific testing for Clostridium botulinum (C. bot), the bacteria responsible for infant botulism.
A source for the essentials your babies need
Whether you choose to formula feed from the beginning, have a milk supply that just never comes in, or have hopes of exclusively breastfeeding but run into unexpected trouble with your breastmilk supply meeting the ever-growing demand of your ever-growing twins, you may find yourself in a situation where you need to supplement your babies' feeds with formula.
With the launch of Munchkin's Infant Formula, parents now have another infant formula option to ensure their babies are getting the essential nutrients they need to support their immune development, brain growth, and digestive health.
